1 Obituary: The Courier, Oct/29/2004 - A Mass of Christian Burial for Lydia E. Grossestreuer, 87, of Findlay, Ohio, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2004 at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church - downtown, with Father Mike Hohenbrink officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. The Rosary Altar Society will begin the rosary at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home. A scripture service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Thursday. Lydia died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at The Heritage Nursing Home. Lydia was born on October 13, 1917 in Elwood, Indiana to Frank and Mary (Schuck) Keller. She married Robert P. Grossestreuer on May 1, 1948 and he survives. Also surviving are 4 sons, Joseph (Victoria) Grossestreuer, Downers Grove, Ill.; Robert (Lin) Grossestreuer, Findlay; James Grossestreuer, Houston, Texas; John Grossestreuer, Findlay; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Edward Keller, Kokomo, Indiana. Lydia was a retired registered nurse having worked at Blanchard Valley Hospital for over 20 years. She was a graduate of St. Vincent Nursing School, Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church where she was a member of Ave Maria Study Club; St. Michael's Prayer Wheel; Rosary Altar Society; and Sandusky Street Block Rosary; she was also a charter member of Leo Councilettes; served as a communion distributor for 15 years and organized medical supplies for Brother Joe's missions in Africa. Lydia was fond of Notre Dame and loved to attend their football games.Memorials may be made to: St. Michael The Archangel Parish, 422 Western Aveue, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
